Our Story

MINDYOURLIFE GLOBAL

The story of Mindyourlife and its founder, Claire Kirk-Cape is one of determination, compassion, and a commitment to making a positive impact on the lives of others. Mindyourlife was born out of a desire to address the disparities that Claire observed in her community and to provide support for individuals facing similar challenges.

Mindyourlife had its beginnings in 2002 at a local fitness center in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. It was founded by Claire Kirk-Cape and Winton Cape, who brought their unique expertise and experiences to the venture. Winton was a Director of Information Systems, and Claire worked as a Social Worker for the Ministry of Community and Social Services. It was during this time that Claire recognized the systemic disparities affecting black and indigenous communities, which fueled her desire to make a difference. Both left Canada as Peacekeepers in the Middle East where Claire volunteered in community organizations helping women suffering with abuse.

Our Story

Mindyourlife is a venture founded by Claire Kirk-Cape, a psychotherapist who is passionate about making a positive difference in the lives of others. She started Mindyourlife in 2002 with her husband Winton Cape, a Director of Information Systems, at a local fitness center in Newmarket, Ontario, Canada. There, she witnessed the systemic disparities affecting black and indigenous communities, which motivated her to pursue a career in psychotherapy after serving as a Peacekeeper in the Middle East.

Claire returned to Canada and built a team of associates, including a naturopath, a personal trainer, and a dietician, to offer a holistic approach to health and wellness. She worked with individuals who were at various stages of their development and facing challenges similar to what she had observed in her previous roles. She also volunteered in community organizations helping women suffering from abuse.

Claire’s commitment to serving her community extended beyond her private practice. She recognized the importance of offering counseling that was trauma-informed and culturally sensitive. She used a combination of therapeutic techniques, drawing from Humanistic psychology, Adlerian psychology, and Eugine Gendlin’s Focusing. Her vision was to deliver this service in marginalized communities one day.
